Nature is something that I have always had an unexplainable connection with. There have been thousands upon thousands of times when I would wake up early in the morning and go down to our dock and just sit and watch all of nature come to life. The sun would take its' time climbing up above the treetops and the birds would all slowly begin to chirp. The lake would always be as still as ice until a mother duck and her ducklings broke the smooth, radiant water; leaving a trace of ripples that disrupted the peace. The ground would be slightly damp from the dew that has fallen and the wind would blow ever so lightly, which would rustle the leaves on the trees and make me feel alive and at harmony with myself. These were the moments when I felt the closest to nature, and yet, we still cannot provide a definition of such a simple word.
Nature surrounds us in almost every aspect, although most of our society doesn't even recognize it. To me, nature is life. It is made up of many things that humans cannot create. Nature is the 200 ton blue whale in the Pacific ocean, the algae that grows on the rocks on the creek bed, the sunflowers that grow out in the fields in south Georgia; it is the essence of everything we cannot possibly fathom creating.
If I could, I would travel the world experiencing nature in a multitude of ways. I would see Australia and its' exotic beaches and flowers, I would travel to the Amazon and try to count all the many animals my eyes saw, then I would go to Alaska and see what it is like in the winter- frozen, and absolutely remarkable. I would never grow tired of surrounding myself with the forces of nature because there is so much to experience. I want to travel and write about all that I see. I want to photograph the nature that surrounds me at that given location and tell people about all the different foods that I'll try. One day, even if it's years from now, my dream is to see the world and see what nature will reveal to me before my time comes.
